When the Devas and the Asuras were churning the ocean of creation, Lakshmi sprang forth, like Venus, from the froth of the sea, in full beauty with a lotus in her hand. She is the Goddess of prosperity and beauty, and the wife of Vishnu, the Lord of preservation. A sense of abundance and good fortune has been associated with females from the time of the Vedas. Because of Lakshmi's association with the lotus she is also known as Padma or Kamala. Some of her other names or incarnations include Sita (wife of Rama), Radha or Rukmini (consort of Krishna), Sri, Indira, Jaladhi-ja (ocean-born), and Loka-mata (mother of the world).
Available in 3x3 and 6x6 inches.
